Corbin’s love of Beary continues to grow.  I didn’t think it was possible, but that bear is his constant companion and playmate right now.  When do I get concerned;)

IMG_7486[1]

Here are a few Beary conversations and interactions of late:

*While Corbin (and Beary) were playing I heard a distress cry.  I go to his room and Corbin declares Beary needs a house!  Why I ask?  Because he needs his own window, yard, and bed.  Well, goodness I had no idea Beary had such needs!?!  I had to break the news that Beary will be sharing this house with us indefinitely.  Corbin came to terms with the information.

*Corbin asked me what Beary’s favorite color was.  I don’t know why I even tried to think of a logical answer, but I did.  I thought perhaps red because that’s Corbin’s color or blue because Beary is blue.  Upon giving my answer Corbin gives me the MOST incredulous look and says “It’s purple!”  He seemed so shocked and offended that I didn’t know this about Beary.  I swear we have never had this conversation before…how would I know?  However, upon reflection maybe I just have a genius child.  Red + Blue = Purple…Corbin just combined my choices and came up with a genius answer;)

*Corbin said to Beary “You stink!”  I asked if Beary should get a bath.  Corbin said “No, he likes being stinky.”  Great, a stinky bear shares a bed, plays, and eats with my son.  What a great influence.  Is this an indication of the type of future friends Corbin will be choosing;)

For now Beary is firmly a part of this family. So keep your eyes out for more Beary stories and shenanigans…I know it’s all so exciting;)IMG_7488[1]

Sometimes

Sometimes Corbin likes to list off his family.  Tonight he spelled our names for us…just in case we forgot. ;)

Sometimes Corbin likes to practice showing his range of emotions…

IMG_7478[1]

dark and brooding

IMG_7476[1]

angry and upset

IMG_7477[1]

major confusion

IMG_7470[1]

surprise and awe

happy and elated

and the future teenage look (or as Chris likes to say the “Jenn look”).

And sometimes when it’s a very snowy day outside stuffed animals become playmates, and adventures are had that involve climbing pillows.

Happy Valentine’s Day

From the bottom of his heart

IMG_7443[1]

to the tips of his toes

IMG_7446[1]

he loves you!

IMG_7441[1]

Doesn’t he look like the picture of love? ;)

His grumpy looks and unwilling spirit sums up the last few days in our house. It’s been a hard week and let’s just say no one really cares it’s Valentine’s Day here.

We’ve lost that lovin’ feeling. But we are still hoping that wherever you are and whatever you are doing today that you have a wonderful day filled with love and smiles!

I’m sure we’ll get those back someday. :)

Mom Fail #259

I’m sure the number of fails is higher than that, but since I don’t technically keep track those are the numbers my little fingers typed out.

I’m not a mom who rushes to the doctor. I don’t want to be that mom who has the doctor give you that look and say it’s just a cold, drink water, sleep, and eat healthy. Umm, ok thanks, so glad I paid half of my retirement fund to hear that advice.

I try to be rational and really assess the situation and like most people have my husband utilize WebMD.

Well, Corbin started not feeling so well late Sunday afternoon.  He had cold-like symptoms and some yellow gunk collecting in his eyes.  But it wasn’t terrible, so we continued with our plans of having dinner with friends.

(Sidenote: before we continued with our plans Chris diagnosed Corbin with pink eye through the help of the internet.  I scoffed at the suggestion, but he recommended we warn our friends and let them decide if they still wanted to meet up.  “No, no,” I said, it’s just a cold and it’s not that bad.  I’m SURE it couldn’t possibly be pink eye.)

That night he got worse.  I was up multiple times and it was a long night.  But, Monday morning dawned and his eyes seemed better than they had all last night.  He still had some yellow gunk come out here and there, but not very bad.  So, I figured, yay we are on the mend.  We’ll stay home, rest, and recover.

Tuesday morning he looked even better.  Pat on the back to me!  We hung out till late morning and I monitored him and he seemed well.  So, I loaded him up and off we went to story time at the local library.  Halfway through story time he looks at me and his eyes are yellow infested balls of mucus.  Oh my heavens above!  I wiped and prayed this was a one time flair up.

But, nope, by the end I was mortified I had brought my son to the library.  On the ride home his eyes were half covered in gunk.

All morning…all morning there was not one sign of gunk, why did it rush in during story time?  Why does this stuff always occur in public?

I call the doctor, and we rush over.  One look and she declares: pink eye.  No problem she says, just give him some eye drops (six times a day!) and keep him away from others because it’s highly contagious.

Uh oh, highly contagious, you say?  So the 12 other families that we just saw this morning…we should have stayed away?  Or the family that we ate with Sunday night when my husband thought that perhaps he had pink eye…we should have stayed away and I should have listened?

Oops, mom fail.  Pink eye in the house!

Up All Night

It’s 1:19 am.  I’m up.  Why?  Because my child is.

Uhg.

Here’s the play by play of the thrilling events:

12:30 – Corbin is singing in bed.  I awake and think…what?!?

12:40 – He’s still happily singing.  I’m still unhappily thinking what?!?

12:45 – I get up to use the bathroom and notice his light is now turned on in his room.  My what?!? increased tenfold and I wake up Chris.  I ask him “do you think it’s ok for Corbin to have his light on at 12:45 am?”  He groggily replies “I don’t know.”  My what?!? increases more.

12:49 – Chris and I enter into Corbin’s room for a midnight chat.  Corbin replies that he can’t sleep and it’s too dark.  Yes, it’s dark out because it’s the middle of the night!!

12:59 – Lights have stayed off and Corbin pitifully whines in the dark.  Chris goes in for one more “serious” chat and all has been quiet since.

1:09 – I’m still up and can’t sleep. I feel a tad bit guilty that I’m on the computer while I just told Corbin to lay in bed if he couldn’t sleep.  Maybe I should take my own advice and just lay in bed.

1:18 – I’m hearing Corbin roll around in bed.  He’s still not asleep and neither am I.  This could be a long night…

Bulldoze It

Corbin and I built a little town.  It was flourishing and growing.  The potential for a thriving economy was there until foreman Corbin decided…

BULLDOZE IT!!

“That’s it trucks, our job is done!”

But Corbin there are still 3 buildings standing.  Don’t you want to take those down?

IMG_7424[1]

“No, silly mommy.  That’s the church, the library, and my bridge.  We need the church and library.  And the crane does not feel like building the bridge again….it all stays.”

And there you have it. I once again regain hope that this little guy  might turn out alright…if you want to save the church and the library that has to be a good sign, right;)

Love my little foreman Corbin!
