Christmas Day 2012

The final Christmas celebration of 2012.

Corbin got a cute truck from Papa Lee and Grandma.  So the cousins took a spin around the house!

We had a wonderful time hanging with the family.

Calling You

Corbin likes to talk…a lot.

Although I enjoy my conversations with Corbin and I love to hear what he has to say, sometimes my ears need a break.

So, what do I do?  Hand him an old cell phone and let him “call” others.

And he does!

IMG_7186[1]

He usually “calls” Grandma, Grandpa, and Daddy.  And boy do they get an earful.  He tells them about his day and if we happen to be in the car they get a running commentary of what we are driving by.

IMG_7185[1]IMG_7190[1]IMG_7187[1]

It’s actually really fun (and funny) to listen in on his one sided conversations.  Oh this boy has so much to say!

My favorite one liner from these conversations:

“Oh, I gotta go…Mom’s driving too fast!”  (This kid  thinks I drive too fast on an almost daily bases, but I’m not, really I’m not…really:)

So if your ears are needing a break, just try handing your child an old phone.  It just might work!

Gingerbread House and Train

Corbin and his friends decorated a gingerbread house and train.

IMG_7163

They had fun putting on the candies, but I think some of them had more fun licking off the icing:)

This was definitely a great activity to kick off the Christmas weekend!

“Choo choo, here comes the Christmas train!”

Flashback Friday

This is the tunnel from Grandma Tammy and Grandpa’s house.

Corbin and his cousin Collin love to climb through it!

This was in November 2011

Second Christmas of 2012

We attended our second Christmas this weekend.

IMG_7040[1]

Another round of great food, fellowship, fun, and gifts!

IMG_7102[1]

Corbin really got into the swing of opening gifts.  He tore through the paper and rapidly opened one after another.  It was something I had not seen from him before.

IMG_7057[1]

While the presents he tore through, his stocking gifts were another story.  The gifts in his stocking were wrapped in red and green tissue paper.  And this is what he did as he was unwrapping….IMG_7053[1]

That’s right, he made two distinct piles, one for the red paper and one for the green.  He was so funny!  He absolutely insisted that the paper be separated and he was very precise as he opened each gift to make sure the paper went into the correct piles.  What can I say…really, what can I say;)

Corbin also got to meet his new cousin, Clara.  We are in love!  She is super sweet and Corbin had a great time watching her.

We even had special reindeer visitors!

Christmas Card Outtakes

Chris found a deal, several weeks ago, that Shutterfly had 40% off Christmas cards.

However, he discovered the discount two days before the deal ended, so we scrambled to get a photo and put together our cards to take advantage of the price reduction.

The end result was a nice Christmas card, but the process to get there…exhausting:)

IMG_6715[1]

“Umm, why are these lights on me?”

IMG_6707[1]

“Cheeese….oh you want it to look less scary?”

IMG_6711[1]

“My neck is really my best feature.  Does it show?”

IMG_6761[1]

“Really mom, I think we can stop trying.”

IMG_6768[1]

“This has gone too far people!”

IMG_6764[1]

“Yea, rock on, Christmas.  Do you get it?  It’s my KISS inspired pose.  Mom, you like it, right?”

After a bazillion tries, some tears, and pouts (mostly on my part;)  We did get some pictures that worked, but it was an interesting experience.  We’ll see what we do next year…it might not include a picture;)

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Have You Vacuumed Today?

Here’s a small conversation Corbin had with me today:

Corbin:  “Are you going to vacuum today?”

Me:  “No, I hadn’t planned on it.”

Corbin:  “There are crumbs on the floor.  I think you should.”

Me:  “Umm, ok, I guess I can.  Thanks for letting me know.”

If you want your house evaluated for cleanliness I’ll send Corbin your way free of charge.  Now that’s a deal;)

**I would like to note that I had just vacuumed at the end of last week and then we were out of town Friday-Sunday, so my floor was pretty clean.  I do not want my two faithful readers (Mom and GG) to think I have dirty floors!

First Christmas of 2012

Corbin is blessed to have many Christmas celebrations throughout December.  This weekend was the first one for this year!

We started the celebrating on Friday morning with a small kids party at a friend’s house.

The kids did crafts, played games, read some fun books, and played with Pocket the gerbil.

Then it was off to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  We went through a living nativity, ate a ton of yummy food, opened gifts, played games, and had a great time just hanging out.

So Christmas #1 down with 2 more to go…December is such fun!

At the Farm

Corbin and I had a great opportunity to visit a dairy farm the other day.  The event included a reading of a book by the author, a tour of the milking facilities, and a trip to see three new calves.

I told Corbin that we were headed to a farm and he was excited!

Upon first arriving we immediately spied the machinery. He was so delighted to see the combines and tractors.

Then we observed the cows, watched the milking, and played with the calves.

The only downfall to the day was the lack of a certain animal on the farm. I forgot to clarify that this farm was a dairy farm which means they only have cows.  So, although he was excited to see everything it was a slight disappoint that there were no pigs.

So, now Corbin wants to go to another farm…with pigs.  But we live in the city, so I think we’ll just be heading to the zoo to check out the pigs there.
