“Big Kid”
You know you are a “big kid” when…
you drive you and your buddies around
you chew gum
you do “school” work
you create masterpieces in a variety of mediums
you author books
and you have sole control of the hose to wash out the garage!
Corbin, you may be turning into a big boy, but you will always be my baby.

New Places
On Tuesday Corbin and I checked out a new park and then right across the street was a new library for us to try! Really, what could get better than that? Books and a playground so close together….it’s a dream
The park was super fun. Corbin had a great time exploring some new equipment. It’s so nice to be able to just climb and play with him now instead of monitoring and helping him get around. He’s getting big!
Then we walked over to the library. Corbin and I fell in love with this library because it has a very cool entrance to the children’s area. In fact, Corbin told me the sign said “A Cool Place” (when in reality it was labeled children’s area), but I totally agreed with him
He played with a variety of puzzles and activities while I hunted around for books. We always have a great time at the library. If you haven’t made a trip to your local library this summer check it out! It’s a free place that will entertain your kiddos…you can’t beat that.
We had a great time exploring some new places!

Parades and Pulls
We love summer for many reasons, but one of our favorite is going to the lake!
The only downside is that our picture amounts are always low because we are enjoying the water and the activities.
This weekend, the city that our lake is by had a parade. The boys loved taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells, of the parade.
We spent hours and hours of time on the boat and playing in the water, but none of that was documented in pictures. What was photographed; the boys having their first tube ride and I was in the middle….these pictures have me at my best, I know
Here we are, anticipating the thrill of the ride to come.
And we are off…with me shouting orders to be careful with what camera shots were taken
Picking up speed and having fun!
The boys decided we might need to slow down just a bit. They are my kind of tubers…slow and relaxing! I have volunteered to be the chaperoning adult until their style of tubing changes. Which I’m sure will not be too long. Then they will be wanting to go at neck breaking speeds and flipping and flying all over – that is not for me people, not for me at all.
Until then I’m very content to be behind the jet ski cruising at a leisurely pace with the boys. Summers at the lake – love!

Summer So Far…
There has been lots of pool time…eating snacks by the pool, laying by the pool, playing in the pool, and swim lessons at the pool. We love the pool!
Summer has brought lots of grocery shopping. Not sure why, but when I’m home all day we seem to go to the store more. Need an apple, let’s go. Out of bread, let’s go. Instead of a big trip we take multiple little trips…not so thrilling to Corbin, unless he has his own little cart. Then it’s a huge adventure for him and triggers a stress inducing heart attack for me
There have been hours and hours spent outside and hours and hours of play dates. We love having friends over and summer is such a great time to make that happen!
Corbin jumped on the bandwagon (finally) and took his first selfie this summer.
This summer we’ve already taken a few road trips where the occasional miracle will occur (a nap!).
Unfortunately, Corbin also slept when he was sick. He came down with an extremely high fever for a few days. When we took him to the doctor we found out it was strep and an ear infection. It was not a fun week of summer
This summer we’ve been “crafty/artsy”, well as much as this noncrafty mom is going to get. We’ve done lots of coloring, drawing, painting, and scissor art.
And of course, the zoo, is always a summer hang out spot. You’ll find us there early in the morning, before it gets hot. When the afternoon hits and the temps rise, then you’ll find us poolside.
So far summer 2014 has been packed with activities and summertime fun!

2014 Family Reunion
We traveled to the great state of Nebraska for our family reunion.
We spent time swimming in the hotel pool, picnicking at a great local park, visiting a children’s museum, and having a BBQ.
At the awesome children’s museum:
Corbin gave a rousing puppet performance.
Farmer Corbin picked his corn crop.
He operated heavy machinery (which given his lack of sleep the night before was a little scary)
Astronaut Corbin even explored space.
And finally Corbin did some major grocery shopping and I found my new calling as a cashier.
I was a little worried about how the weekend would go because Corbin and Chris had both been sick that week. In fact, Corbin had just started antibiotics on Thursday for strep throat AND an ear infection!
Let me just say it had been a long week for the whole family. But, everyone was feeling fine and in good spirits on Friday so we went.
We were glad that we did, until that night when Corbin woke up at 12:30am and just decided he could NOT sleep. He was up until 3:30am. Chris and I were sharing a hotel room with an insomniac that night and it was about as fun as you would think
But, beyond that weird night the rest of the time was fun and relaxing. We enjoyed seeing everyone and spending time with family that we do not get to see often.

Stylin’
He may be sick, but he can still rock a pair of pajamas and sunglasses during a morning walk!
I decided to choose a “safer” mode of transportation then my car this morning. I felt pretty confident that I could drive a stroller without getting a ticket
