Today’s Best

Best question of the day thus far:

Corbin:  “Mom, were you talking to me or to yourself?”

Chris’s laughter could not be contained.

I believe this indicates that I talk too much to myself!

Best activity of the day:

Corbin asked for a rag so he could wipe the tables and the floor.  And that kid went to work and did a fabulous job.

Best moment of the day:

A huge hug from my little guy and an “I love you SO much, Mommy.”

First Ice Cream Trip

If you know my child at all you know he doesn’t have a sweet tooth.  But really I need to amend that statement and say he DIDN’T have one.  In the past several months this child has begun to explore and enjoy the sweeter things in life.

So because of this new found enjoyment for all things sweet Chris and I decided to take a trip to a local ice cream place with Corbin.

This was our first outing to buy ice cream with Corbin.  And I know for some having your first experience at 3.5 years old is shocking, but this child really wanted nothing to do with anything sweet before this time.

Corbin got to pick his flavors (vanilla and strawberry) and also pull the handle to see the ice cream come out.

He loved his ice cream (so did Daddy;)!

However, along with the highs comes the lows…the first brain freeze…

But even the lasting effects of a slight brain freeze didn’t stop him from digging in for more…

Corbin Tidbits from Preschool Pick-Up

"When I get older will you still be my Mommy and Daddy?”  Yup, you’re stuck with us...wait for it…FOREVER:)

“Today was Gracie’s birthday.  We got a stamp with Minnie Mouse on it.  How come this mouse has a name?”  Oh no, the whole undiscovered world of Disney is going to be opening to him through school!

“I got this sticker at the checkout line.  Some girl checked me out and gave it to me.”  Do you know this girl’s name and is this checkout line one of your preschool centers?  I’m so confused.

“We had round things for breakfast.  They were good.”  Umm, does that mean pancakes?

“Watch out Mommy!  Don’t step there that’s where LoLo peed!”  Oh crap, I do see a dark spot.  Oh well, what’s a little LoLo pee on my shoe;)

It Begins

We knew that putting Corbin into preschool would probably result in going through some sick periods, but we had only done ONE week and he was already home sick.  From last Sunday through Wednesday this little guy was home with a fever, runny nose, tummy problems, and just the general yucks!

Luckily, I have Mondays off, Chris took Tuesday off, and Chris’s Grandma came and loved up on him Wednesday. But being away at work while my baby was at home sick was HARD!  Again, it’s another new adjustment for me.  I’ve always been home with him while he was sick.  But I knew he was in loving and capable hands while I was away.

In fact Daddy took our little guy outside for some fresh air on Tuesday to watch a cement mixer that was close to our house.  Even in his sick state Corbin loved watching the machines at work!

So this Labor Day weekend we worked very hard to make sure our schedule was pretty empty.  We only had plans for part of one day and the rest we’ve dedicated to doing some errands and then tons of time to rest and play!  It’s been super nice to take some time to slow down after the busy weeks full of change and adjustment we’ve been going through.

Happy Labor Day weekend!  I hope you’re finding time to slow down and enjoy some extra time off.
