We’ve been busy with church activities, barbeques, dinners, friends, family…all fun! And of course we have the usually school and work thing too.
I took Corbin and a friend to the zoo by myself the other day. Not having the other child’s parent with us for play dates and outings is fairly new territory. We are just venturing into the world and it’s a great age for it to happen.
The kiddos were super fun to follow around the zoo. They had such fun conversations to listen in on. It was one of the most enjoyable trips I’ve had there!
Corbin set a record for being up until 10:15 pm. He’s never done that with us (although I’ve been told this might happen at the grandparent houses) but never with us. We were over at a friend’s house for a bbq and the kids were playing so well and the adults were just chit chatting that everyone lost complete track of time. This is when you know your kids have gotten older! No fighting, no whining, no sharing issues….it was amazing!
Also there that night I was introduced to a free app called “dubsmash”. It has snippets of popular songs and movie/tv lines that you record yourself reenacting. Corbin did the song “let it go” from frozen and it was hilarious! Check out the app yourself and have fun!
Last week we also had a chance to try out a few of Corbin’s birthday gifts. We worked on a string art project. It involved nails and a hammer. That little project showed my very incompetent abilities with a hammer and the dangers of holding a nail while a 5 year old is hammering. But regardless of some of our trials we had fun
Corbin also got to go to the live Wild Kratts show. He was super excited and wanted the Kratt brother outfit, but they had sold out at the end. So, Grandma Tammy ordered one from Amazon (because that’s what grandparents do) and it got sent to our house. You better believe that boy had his creature power suit on in seconds. Now, whenever he watches the show he must be in the correct gear.
We have another soccer game tomorrow, yahoo! And we are going to be spending our morning doing our first family servant event with our church. We are requested to bring rakes, shovels, gloves, and sunscreen….this sounds like it’s going to be work
