New Playmate

Corbin’s cousin arrived on Thursday at 12:47pm. He weighed in at 7lbs 2oz and 19 3/4 inches.  Now Corbin has a new playmate, Blake!

Ouch!

Maybe it’s my overprotective first-time mom tendencies that have kept Corbin bruise and bump free most of his life, but this week everything changed.

In a matter of one week – let’s be more specific – in the matter of FIVE days this child has had the following: a huge goose egg with bruise, his first blood gusher, and two scrapes. All were located on his face.

How does this happen?  A trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  Now I’m not laying blame on them, because two of the three incidents took place when I was standing right there and they weren’t even around.  So I’m not saying it’s their fault; I’m just saying it all happened there.  The scene of the ouches were at the grandparents’ house.

It began with a fall into a table.  This resulted in an immediate goose egg and bruise on his forehead.  Then it was a fall on the wood floor where he bit into his lip and had blood running out. (This was the first time I had seen blood coming out of my baby…sad sight.)  And finally, in the garage, after many happy minutes of playing in between the cars he slid on the floor and scraped his forehead.

I expected he would bruises at some point, but I didn’t expect for so much to happen to his little face in one week.  By the end of the week it was almost embarrassing to take him out of the house with his little bruised and cut face.

We had a CRAZY busy week so I did not get a chance to take pictures until today so the damage is healing nicely and hardly visible, but trust me when I say it was a sad sight to see.

IMG_0954“Don’t worry I’m fine and still super cute, even with a few bumps and bruises.  In fact, I just think it helps my image around the ‘hood.”

IMG_0952“Here’s a close up.  You can see the little scrapes that are on my forehead and the bottom left of my lip is slightly swollen.  Oh, and then there is just a slight bruise mark on the right side of my forehead where my goose egg used to be.  Are you all seeing this?  I had a tough week!”

13 Months

After 12 months I decided I would no longer do the monthly updates with Corbin in the chair holding a sign, but it feels weird not to acknowledge he’s 13 months old today.  I’m in the routine of doing a monthly post, but after this one I’m going to stop…probably…most likely…maybe…

So there is no signs or Corbin sitting in a chair, just some random photos of Corbin at the beginning of 13 months.

The biggest thing that has changed from the beginning of 12 months until now is his walking.  In the past 2 weeks he has become a fulltime walker.  He’s really picking up speed with those steps.  In fact, he’s doing so well that I had him walk into bible study with me instead of carrying him.  Wow, that was nice for me…this kid is getting heavy!

Miscellaneous Weekend Pictures

We went to Hutchinson on Saturday to watch Chris’ sister’s last concert before she graduates from high school.  So we had the pleasure of seeing a really great concert and visiting with cousins, grandparents, and great grandparents.

Kati is on the end in pink singing the theme song to Mission Impossible.  It was a great acappella version.

Cousins at play.  It was fun to watch these two interact.  I can only imagine what they will be like as they get older.  If their daddies are any indication of how they will act together…well we are in for some ornery and hilarious moments.

Uncle Brent is reading to Corbin and Collin.  These two were very much engaged in the story so I don’t know if the book was that riveting to them or Brent is just that amazing of a reader.  (I’m guessing it was the book;)

Collin and Corbin hanging in the rocking chair together.  Really, these two are super cute!

High five to Grandpa!

“Ahh Grandma you make me laugh.”

Collin playing with Great-Grandpa while Corbin checks out what’s going on outside…surprise.  That kid skedaddled to the window almost as soon as we got there.

“Daddy go faster please!”

Grandma, Corbin, and we can’t forget Sleepy Bear…having some cuddle time before bedtime.
